What happened to professional wrestling? There used to be a small amount of drama in the good old World Wrestling Federation (WWF), when original heroes like Hulk Hogan and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper came to fame. Pro wresting has always harnessed a touch of drama, but the focus used to be on inexpensive events in your hometown, not over-the-top soap operas for boys that require a digital cable subscription or costly tickets to watch.
The death of an era
The WWF is now called World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), following a civil suit from an animal rights group that shared the WWF acronym. In the mid-90s, there was much scandal for pro wrestling when it was revealed that the fights were staged and scripted--a scandal made much worse amid rumors of steroid use.
After a few years of dying a painful death, producers tried to breathe life back into pro wrestling by embracing the drama.
Stacy's Show Cancelled, SD Stays Put, Carlito's Accent
ABC didn't pick up What About Brian for the upcoming fall season, the TV series Stacy Keibler made several appearances on earlier in the year. The network felt the ratings didn't warrant a third year for the series.
The CW has announced their fall schedule. As expected, Smackdown will remain on Friday nights at 8 p.m.
Carlito, who's notorious for always trying to stay in character even when he's doing media interviews, dropped his "Carlito accent" for his family's segment in the upcoming "The Most Powerful Families In Wrestling" DVD. How he talks in WWE isn't really how he talks in real life. Also, he hosts the DVD and does it in character. Advertisement: WWE ORDERS J.R. to not mention a former WWE star ever again (>>) .

Anyone that tries to sue Somethingawful.com deserves everything they get. I know being a victim of several attempted lawsuits myself. While writing for the now defunct football website "Down the Tunnel" some of the more cutting edge and obscene articles caused offence to several people. One of which was Blues guitarist "Big" Walter Smith who tried to sue me for, erm, swearing in a column that contained his name. I think. Also a guy that ran a Leeds Utd message board tried to sue me for "spreading hatred" after signing up on his site as "Super Gooner 1". They were taking shots at George Graham and there were no Arsenal fans around to stick up for him.

*Eddie Colon, the younger brother of Carlito and son of Carlos Colon, defeated Shannon Moore in a good competitive match after a flying bodypress. Smackdown: *Smackdown opens with a promo on The Undertaker defending the WWE World championship against Batista in a Steel Cage match. *WWE United States champion Chris Benoit & Matt Hardy defeated MVP & Finlay in a solid 15 minute bout after Benoit pinned MVP. The heels worked on Hardy's knee for a good portion of the bout and he limped all the way to the back. *Another Steel Cage Match promo. *Michelle McCool defeated Jillian Hall with a spinning neckbreaker. Hall "sang a song" before the match started. *Backstage, Teddy Long told Kristal Marshall to have Vickie Guerrero come to Smackdown next week. Guerrero's name was booed.

This Wednesday (October 4th) seems to be the last edition of Presents Madison Square Garden Classics. This is due to sports programming taking over almost every Wednesday night in the near future. One of the matches featured in this Wednesdays shows is The Iron Sheik defeating Bob Backlund for the WWF World Title.
The September 23 AM RAW scored a 0.9 cable rating, with a 4.0 share.
New ECW Diva, WWE Cyber Sunday News, Eric Bischoff
A WWE Cyber Sunday pay-per-view press conference has been confirmed for the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Confirmed for the press conference are: John Cena, Edge, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, King Booker, Queen Sharmell, The Big Show, and Jonathan Coachman.
Eric Bischoff will be signing copies of his book "Controversy Creates Cash" tomorrow (October 17) at Borders Books on East Mayo Boulevard in Scottsdale, Arizona.
A WWE developmental diva, Rebecca DiPietro debuted for the ECW brand over the weekend. She was working bikini contests on the house show loop in Arizona. As part of national Teen Read Week activities, World Wrestling Entertainment and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) today kicked off the national WrestleMania Reading Challenge.
The Challenge was announced by WWE SmackDown star Bobby Lashley and actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry at a Teen Read Week event at the Glendale Public Library in Glendale, CA.
Teen Read Week, which runs until Oct. 22, is a national literacy initiative to encourage teens to take time to read for the fun of it.
A special poster was produced by WWE featuring this year's Teen Read Week spokespersons: WWE SmackDown stars Bobby Lashley and Rey Mysterio of Friday Night SmackDown (CW, Fridays, 8 p.m. ET); Carlos Mencia, star of the Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central; and acting twins Tia and Tamera Mowry of Sister, Sister and the Disney Channel.
Wrestling chard into submission
Admit it, chard is kinda scary. With its strong stems poking holes in your plastic grocery bag and leaves the size of a kitchen cutting board, the whole idea of wrestling this neon-veined vegetable into shape for a quick dinner seems impossible. But it can be done; simply separate the leaves from the stems (save stems for a future weekend use) and roughly chop the leaves into ribbons. Cook, covered, for five minutes in garlic-scented olive oil and the chard is ready.
Sauteed chopped chard provides the muscle for this vegetarian one-dish pasta meal. Its dark green color and robust yet mannered flavor provides a foil to mild-flavored spaghetti.

Eric Perez who recently made his ECW debut at a house show had been working in Deep South and signed his developmental deal in 2005.
Despite still be listed on the ECW website's roster page, there is no talk of using Terry Funk right now.
On the new WWE.com Power 25 ranking, under CM Punk's entry it reads "For a second straight week, Dupree got Punked" which is in reference to a match that has not yet aired on TV.

Chavo Guerrero Rips Bischoff, Bischoff Talks TNA
There is a new subsite on WWE.com promoting Eric Bischoff's new book. Within the subsite, there is a page featuring comments regarding Bischoff and his book from current WWE stars who used to be WCW stars under his watch. One WWE star in particular had some very harsh words to say about Bischoff, and that person is Chavo Guerrero. Here is what Chavo said:
