| Updated WWE Raw Preview; Tampa Bay Devil Rays 'Legends Of ...
One week after he tore Mr. McMahon's Executive Assistant limb from limb, Bobby Lashley will get another crack at Jonathan Coachman...this time in a sanctioned match Monday night on Raw. Will we see a repeat beating when these two square off one on one? Or will Coachman somehow manage to hold his own against the mountainous Lashley? Also, the new World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, will be at Raw to say goodbye. There's no doubt the Rated-R Superstar will be gloating as he makes his final Raw appearance before heading to SmackDown. WWE Champion John Cena has a tall mountain to climb as Raw heads to its final stop before Judgment Day. One would assume Cena will be looking for The Great Khali, the No. 1 contender, who stole the title and walked out of Raw last week after leveling The Champ with his own gold.
Hamilton hot for WWE house show
HAMILTON, ON -- It has been nearly ten years since the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton hosted a WWE pay-per-view (Breakdown in 1998). But listening to the audience in attendance on Friday night for a RAW-brand house show, one might easily have thought WrestleMania was in town. From the opening bell to the main event, the raucous Steeltown crowd rocked the building, cheering and jeering the heroes and villains with an enthusiasm that's rarely seen anymore on TV with the exception of at the company's biggest pay-per-view events. WWE Champ John Cena received the loudest reaction of the night when he came out to defend his title against Randy Orton in the main event. The two had a solid, back and forth battle that saw both men bring out the heavy artillery in the form of fists and high-impact smashes and slams.
Raw: Goin' back to Khali
With Raw reporter Dale Plummer off in Vegas trying desperately to win enough money to stay there, the call goes out once again. And as always, Writer X is ready to answer that call, donning his luchadore mask and manning his trusty laptop. This week may prove his greatest challenge ever, as the Great Khali is sure to test his writing ability like never before. Will Writer X prevail? Will Dale give in to his increased financial demands? Will we get the Dallas ending and find out the whole Khali angle was all just a (bad) dream? Read on and find out! Speaking of Khali, he's still in possession of John Cena's WWE Championship. Coming out to his usual mixed reaction, the champ addresses that reality, noting that Khali simply took it and there was nothing he could do about it.
The Fink’s Payload 04.23.07: New Gimmick Matches
Youve had a couple of weeks to think about this. Marsicos had a couple of weeks to power up his snarkiness. Ive had a couple of weeks towork and drink Coke Zero. Darn. Matt: Hiya, and welcome to the Payload, I am Matt Sforcina, and it's my birthday today (i.e. the 23rd when you read this, not the 22nd when I'm writing it). So happy birthday to me and to all those fellow April 23rders, especially John Cena (for the simple fact that the "Birthday Parties" angle I have in mind should I get to WWE is a cracker, at least in my mind. Nick: I'm tired. Let's get this over with. Matt: And so, onto the many, many ideas we had for new Gimmick Matches. BUT WAIT! First off, a very, very late Backlash idea from John Hucks. I believe what would be best for Backlash is if Edge put out a bounty on the head of Jeff Hardy for what he did to him at Wrestlemania.
WWE vs. TNA 5.06.07: John Cena vs. Colt Cabana
Did you miss me? I have returned after missing a week. I hope you all enjoyed reading my Top Ten Things I Love About Wrestling as I did writing it. Thanks to all the wonderful people who said that my column was fun to read as well. This week I return again to my regular formula for John Cena vs. Colt Cabana! Lord, please help me on this one. John Cena vs. Colt Cabana Category 1: Strengths John Cena: While many people like to focus on the negative aspects of John Cena, I would like to look at some of the things that make him so great. He can actually put on a great match, has tons of charisma, has great work rate, and really lives for the business. What that means is that he puts countless hours into the wrestling business. He travels all over the place, promotes nonstop, and is pretty much married to his career.
