The Independent Mid-Card 05.15.07: Tajiri vs. Psicosis

Hello and welcome to yet another week of The Independent Mid-Card. As a follow up Ring of Honor's recent announcement that they will debut on Pay-Per-View in July (and their reportedly very successful PPV taping this past Saturday), I though it might be fun to use this week's IMC as an excuse to take a walk down memory lane. You see there once was another "Super Indy" that evolved to the point that they could move to Pay-Per-View. That's right kids, it's time for ECW to make it's long-awaited IMC debut. Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Psicosis Extreme Championship Wrestling Hardcore TV Philadelphia, PA August 19, 2000 The Wrestlers: Extreme Championship Wrestling Originally known as Eastern Championship Wrestling during it's creation in 1992, ECW's name was changed following a famous moment in 1994 when Shane Douglas won a tournament for the vacant NWA World Heavyweight Title and threw the belt down upon his victory.

Puerto Rico Results 05.12.07

- The D'Jour Twins defeat Los Adorables in a very solid opener. The twins recent winstreak and apperances on TV seem to indicate a push beyond their usual filler status. - Voodoo Man defeats Superstar Romeo by pinfall after nailing him with the voodoo staff. How the mighty have fallen. Romeo was one of the top emerging new stars and has gone back to being a jobber as of late. - William De La Vega defeats Kimura by pinfall after nailing him with the spanish flag. Kimura is the unnamed japaneese guy that I had referred to in previous results. He wears a mask and dresses like a cross between Jushin Liger and Great Sasuke, but since he wears a mask, there is no telling if he really is from Japan or is just a puerto rican under a mask. - Superstar Ash Rubynsky defeats Hannibal by pinfall with the F-5.

Puerto Rico News: Update on Eddie Colon and WWE, other notes

- According to prwrestling.com, Eddie Colon was told to report to the WWE after the WWC Anniversary Show this year. Eddie left a good impression on the WWE staff after a dark match against Shannon Moore on Smackdown and a match behind closed doors against Val Venis on last week's Raw. - The WWC Anniversary Show this year will take place at the Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum. The facility is the newest and largest in the island and has been the venue used by WWE during their shows in the island. It has also served for concerts from international stars like Ricky Martin, the band Dream Theater and Akon among others. It will be the first wrestling show from a local promotion in that facility. - WWC has been negotiating with WWE to bring in several wrestlers for the Anniversary Show. Carlito was already given permission to work and WWC is trying to get Umaga, among others, to be part of the show.
